Gender ideology is the source of the belief that children can be born in the wrong body. It leads Californians to think that if a young girl feels anguish over her body, the doctors should not help her adjust to her body but should change her body and her surroundings—name, bathroom, pronouns—to conform to her “gender identity.” It fuels the spread of concepts like “gender identity”—including the many new supposed identities such as non-binary and pansexual—and the telling phrase “sex assigned at birth.” It inspires opaque proclamations like “transwomen are women.”

In less than two decades ‘transgender’ has gone from a term representing individuals and little used outside of specialist communities, to signifying a powerful political ideology driving significant social change. Young children are introduced to the latest ideas about sexual orientation and “gender identity” and immersed in an environment that idealizes being “queer.”
It’s important that children learn to accept differences; but indoctrinating them or promoting an agenda is another matter. Children develop at their own pace. Many aren’t psychologically or emotionally ready to discuss or think about their “identity.” The harm to children is physical as well as psychological.

Today the gender industry has flipped this already unacceptable pigeon-holing, and created an even worse situation. Now children are told that if a girl likes and plays sports, she must actually be a boy inside, and if a boy likes to cook and play house, he is actually a girl who was born in a boy’s body. Advocates does not agree with these kinds of labels. Likewise, we do not give high value to the term gender-non-conforming because it assumes that certain attributes and preferences exist which are representative of females and others which are representative of males. We prefer to see all people given the freedom to express themselves and their talents/preferences irrespective of their sex category.

Our Duty is an international support network for parents who wish to protect their children from gender ideology. Gender ideology is a set of ideas that is leading to many children to think that they are transgender. Adolescents in particular are prone to seeking refuge in a gender identity that is at odds with the reality of their sex.

Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria (ROGD) is a type of gender dysphoria that begins suddenly, either during or after puberty in an adolescent or young adult. ROGD affects both sexes, but in recent years there has been a huge increase in cases involving adolescent or young adult females. According to the most recent figures from the Gender Identity Development Service, almost three-quarters of children seeking to change their ‘gender’ are girls.
It seems to come out of the blue, including amongst children who may have been anything other than stereotypically masculine or feminine and is associated with intensive use of internet and social media transgender sites and forums, and often occurs in a peer group where one or more friends have become gender dysphoric and transgender identified around the same time.
It is important to note that children will not think of themselves as transgender without it being presented to them as a valid or even likely option to explain their natural feelings of discomfort. In recent years, the whole of society has effectively become one huge machine for the indoctrination of children into transgenderism.
Instead of promoting gender ideology, schools and wider society need to be promoting critical thinking skills and practical self-improvement customised to the child’s susceptibilities.
A quick look on the internet throws up a host of transgender vlogs acting as guides for young people preparing to visit their own GP or clinician. Thought-terminating clichés are everywhere: ‘Some people are trans, get over it!’ Tips and feedback are shared on exactly what to say to achieve a transgender diagnosis.Once this is obtained, the path opens up for teenagers and young people to access life changing medication and radical surgery.

Transgender Trend advocates for the most vulnerable children who are caught up in the recent trend in society to replace the objective reality of sex with the subjective idea of ‘gender identity’ as the criteria for being a man or being a woman. ‘Gender identity’ ideology teaches children who don’t conform to masculine or feminine stereotypes that their personalities are ‘wrong’ for their sex, and their bodies are then ‘wrong’ for their gender identity.
Boys and girls should be able to wear what they like and have whatever interests they choose without adult interpretation through the lens of a non-scientific, ideological belief that human beings are born with an innate sense of being male or female, which is inevitably based on sex stereotypes.
In schools all children deserve to be taught science-based facts, not ideology disguised as ‘fact’. All children have the right to privacy from the opposite sex in toilets and changing-rooms. Policy in schools must always put safeguarding first and schools should not use resources that confuse children about sex.
