Your participation in the PERK ACTION CAMPAIGNS has made a difference. We had over 1,100,000 Emails, 100 Phone calls, and 112,000 Tweets to legislators and the Governor's office. With your strategically combined efforts and PERK’s meeting with the Governor’s office, we managed to get 2 bills vetoed (AB 957 and SB 596), several bills amended (AB 659, etc.) and a section of one bill killed (SB 599). In a SUPER MAJORITY STATE, this is quite an accomplishment!
California's wireless providers are back in Sacramento, trying to push through two industry-friendly bills that will drastically curtail the ability of local governments to exercise control over the deployment of wireless infrastructure in their communities and use public funds for wireless broadband.
Under AB 965, wireless companies will be able to submit up to 25 or 50 antenna applications at the same time (depending on the size of the municipality) and the local authorities will be under strict deadlines to approve them. If the approval is not given in the allotted time, the applications will all be automatically deemed "approved."
The second bill, AB 1065 allows wireless companies to compete with fiberoptic companies for taxpayer funding to provide communities with high-speed broadband access. (Source: "Americans for Responsible Technology")
Affirm Your Child or Say Goodbye - Facts Law Truth Justice, LLP - AB 957 will be the gateway by which Child Protective Services, the police, and courts will find a parent abusive who does not affirm their child in order to remove them from their custody and sever the ties between them.
Gender-Affirmation Bill Advances - A Republican California lawmaker warned families to escape from the Golden State after legislators advanced a bill on Tuesday that would accuse parents of child abuse if they refuse to “affirm” their children’s so-called gender identity.
PERK - California Legislation: Know the bills and take action - Moving into our 3rd year, we will continue to lobby for legislation that positively impacts our children’s health and their right to an education. Our main goal is to promote and support legislators/legislation that will promote a healthy and educated California for all.
